Go old school with Joe Quesada’s “Uncanny X-Men” #1 variant
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: possibly the best thing about the X-Men is just how many of them there are. There are so many mutants with different looks, costumes, and power sets that practically any random combination of team members will yield interesting results. For his Uncanny X-Men #1 variant cover, Marvel CCO Joe Quesada has taken that to heart, delivering an image that is just packed with the merry mutants. You’ve got the obvious choices, like Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Rogue (all in their iconic ‘90s costumes, so we’ve gots us some pouches and belts), favorites like Nightcrawler, Dazzler, and Longshot, and obscurities like Mimic (!) and... I think that’s Revanche at the top left? Crazy.
Point being, it’s a cool cover that calls back to the height of the X-Men’s popularity, and it even pays tribute to their early days with the original five members prominently represented at the top and bottom of the image. Check it out below.
