Kevin Wada Covers BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #2

All-New Cover Reveal Continues Week Long Spotlight on Next Chapter of the Landmark Pop Culture Reimagining in February 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 6, 2018) – BOOM! Studios today unveiled a variant cover to BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #2 by superstar artist Kevin Wada (She-Hulk), spotlighting the iconic Willow Rosenberg. The next chapter of the hotly anticipated series will debut in stores February 13th, 2019, in partnership with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products.

The reimagining of Joss Whedon's groundbreaking series continues as Drusilla, the self-proclaimed Mistress and her pet, Spike, make their debut with their sights set on Buffy! Meanwhile, Giles is determined to teach Buffy about her destiny, responsibility, blah blah...can someone tell him to chill? How bad can it get?

Welcome back to the Hellmouth as Eisner Award-nominated writer Jordie Bellaire (Redlands) and Russ Manning Award-winning artist Dan Mora (Klaus, Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers), along with series creator and story consultant Joss Whedon (the visionary writer/director behind Firefly, Marvel’s The Avengers, and more), reimagine the groundbreaking pop culture phenomenon from the very beginning.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB Network on March 10th, 1997. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, which ran for seven seasons from 1997-2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as “Buffy Summers.” Chosen to battle vampires, demons and other forces of darkness, Buffy is aided by a Watcher who guides and teaches her as she surrounds herself with a circle of friends called the “Scooby Gang.”

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #2 features a main cover by acclaimed Mondo illustrator Matthew Taylor, along with covers by Celia Lowenthal (Over The Garden Wall: Hollow Town), Ryan Inzana (Ichiro) and Audrey Mok (Archie).

“Willow is one of the most important characters in pop culture history, and I’m thrilled that Jordie and Dan are able to reimagine her as a modern teenager,” said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Kevin perfectly captures the essence of Willow – her joy, humor and warmth – in a stunning new cover spotlighting everyone’s favorite teenage witch.”

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #2 will hit comic shops and digital retailers on February 13, 2019.
