LEGO reveal first set from the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
The world of Harry Potter is kind of a big deal. The books are perennial best-sellers, the movies have made something upwards of a zillion dollars, and there's even a pretty rad theme park in Florida. So popular are the books that they've spun off into a prequel movie series based on an in-universe text book: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Following the amazingly-named Newt Scamander, the first Fantastic Beasts film found the wizard in America as he loses a cache of fantastic beasts... and tries to find them.
And also the matters of the not-so-nice wizard Gellert Grindelwald and a burgeoning dark lord who shall not be named. You know, magic stuff.
The movie, unsurprisingly, was a smash hit, with a sequel coming this November: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Today, our good friends at LEGO have revealed a first look at one of the sets that will release this fall:
LEGO Fantastic Beasts’ Grindelwald ́s Escape
132 pieces | Ages 7+
Available August 1, 2018
•Includes Gellert Grindelwald and Seraphina Picquery™ minifigures, plus a Thestral figure with posable wings.
•Features a buildable articulated carriage with opening doors and a removable roof.
•Flap the Thestral’s wings to make a flying escape!
•Also includes shooting spell accessories on the hands of Seraphina and Grindelwald.
•Recreate iconic scenes from the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The inclusion of a Thestral makes that worth it all by itself. And while this isn't directly related to anything comic booky, appreciation of literature isn't that far removed from a love for comics, considering comics are a type of literature anyway. Plus: LEGO. Everyone loves those.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will debut in theaters on November 16.
