DC Comics and Somos Arte team up for Puerto Rico relief anthology
More than six months after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the island territory of Puerto Rico still has a long way to go toward rebuilding. Relief efforts are ongoing, and in an attempt to raise further awareness and funds, graphic designer Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez has had an idea: team up with DC Comics for a graphic novel anthology.
In an exclusive with the New York Times, Miranda-Rodriguez discusses Ricanstruction: Reminiscing and Rebuilding Puerto Rico, which is due this May. The anthology will be 192 pages and retail at $19.99, with all profits going toward disaster relief funds and initiatives. With contributions from the likes of Gail Simone, Denys Cowan, Rosario Dawson, and Yanick Paquette, the different stories will see DC Comics mainstays like Batman and Wonder Woman interacting with Miranda-Rodriguez's original character La Borinqueña.
Ricanstruction: Reminiscing and Rebuilding Puerto Rico will be available on May 23. All profits will go toward relief organizations such as El Puente.
