Rugrats learn that “C is for Chanukah” in a new one-shot from BOOM! Studios
The idea of a holiday special starring the Rugrats characters is plenty appealing, especially for readers of a certain age. It’s one of those shows that was just always around when I was a kid, so even if I haven’t watched it in years, just the fact that it continues to have life is kind of comforting.
For proof of this, look no further than the announcement that those little tykes will be the stars of a brand new special due out this November from BOOM! Studios. Since series star Tommy Pickles is Jewish, the appropriately titled C is for Chanukah will look at the titular holiday and teach us a thing or two about Jewish culture. I mean, it’s all about the babies saving Chanukah from the Golem, and I am totally here for that.

Hold Onto Your Diapies In an All-New Rugrats Special from BOOM! Studios
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 21, 2018) – BOOM! Studios today announced RUGRATS: C IS FOR CHANUKAH #1, an oversized one-shot comic in November about a Rugrats family vacation to the mountains, complete with the annual argument between Grandpa Lou and Boris arguing over which holiday is better: Chanukah or Christmas.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert writing duo of Daniel Kibblesmith (Quantum & Woody) & Cullen Crawford and artist Kate Sherron (The Amazing World of Gumball) bring this all-new story to life, as Boris is determined to prove his holiday is the best and starts giving Tommy and the babies a history lesson on the Golem which sets imaginations ablaze. Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil now all feel that they have to save Chanukah from the Golem before it steals the holiday away for good!
“The Rugrats return to comic book form with a brand new take on a Rugrats classic...the story of Chanukah,” said Matthew Levine, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Daniel, Cullen, Kate and the whole team have created a hilarious, heartwarming story about family, belief, and the unique power of storytelling, outfitted with all the hijinks you’d expect from your favorite babies.”
Rugrats: C is for Chanukah #1 will hit comic shops and digital retailers this November.
