Everyone is after Cobra Commander in Michel Fiffe’s “G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte” from IDW

Cobra Commander may not be the most successful villain, nor the most capable.  He is, without question, one of the most entertaining bad guys in pop culture, though, and Michel Fiffe seems to get that.  Working with IDW, Fiffe will write a miniseries called G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte, which finds Cobra and Joe alike on the hunt for the hapless leader.  Promising lots of action and plenty of laughs, this sounds like a series to keep your eye on, so check out the details below.

Michel Fiffe Takes Command with All-New G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte Miniseries

Indie Comics Auteur Writes and Draws America’s Daring, Highly-Trained Special Mission Force

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 26, 2018) – IDW Publishing proudly welcomes Michel Fiffe, creator of the critically-acclaimed indie comic Copra, to bring his auteur style to the all-new G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerteminiseries. Written, drawn, lettered, and colored by Fiffe, Sierra Muerte will debut in Spring 2019 as a bombastic-yet-personal, gritty-yet-colorful account of Hasbro’s iconic G.I. Joe team’s quintessential mission.

In G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte, a core team of classic heroes goes rogue on a hunt-and-rescue double mission. With everyone trying to thwart Cobra Commander – even Cobra itself – and with Storm Shadow going AWOL, a pack of America’s fighting elite risks life, love, and honor in this fast paced, one-stop-shop adventure.

“The opportunity to put my own spin on this iconic franchise was impossible to resist,” says Michel Fiffe. “I wanted to take all of my favorite players and give them a chance to shine in their own unique ways. By creating the entire package, I tap into the personalized core of this classic cast. Love and loss, combat and cunning, cheap laughs and high stakes – this is everything I want in a G.I. Joe comic.”

“It is a true honor to be working with Michel Fiffe, one of the industry’s most unique and talented voices, on this project,” says IDW Associate Publisher David Hedgecock. “Michel’s love and passion for classic G.I. Joe shines through with every new page he turns in.”

Michel Fiffe will join IDW Publishing at this year’s New York Comic Con to promote the new G.I. Joe series with signing times, sketched prints available soon for preorder (featuring original head sketches of classic characters), and promotional posters.

G.I. Joe: Sierra Muerte will begin spring 2019.
