Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett reunite for “Section Zero” from Image Comics

If you read a bunch of mainstream comics from the Nineties, you wont have to go very far before you see the names “Karl Kesel” and “Tom Grummett.”  Kesel was a prolific inker and writer, working on titles like Legends, Daredevil, and Superman, and Grummett was one of the most popular pencilers of the day, turning in some iconic work on The Adventures of Superman and Robin.  Together, the duo created the Superboy (with rad leather jacket and sweet fade) who debuted as part of the “Reign of the Supermen” story arc, and collaborated on the character’s solo title as well.

In 2000 the pair launched Section Zero for Image Comics, a title that followed a group that investigated strange phenomena on behalf of the United Nations.   The title was short-lived, but today Image have announced that Kesel and Grummett will relaunch the book this April.  Not only that, but they’re bringing along some of the best names in comics to provide variant covers: Walt Simonson, Adam Hughes, and the late, great Mike Wieringo are just a few of the names attached.  It’s described as “Jack Kirby meets The X-Files,” so be sure to order multiple copies after you check out the details below.

Writer/inker Karl Kesel noted: “Ever since 2000, Tom and I have constantly tried to bring Section Zero back. Almost two decades later, we finally found a way to finish what we’d begun. The cherry on top is seeing the book return to where it all started—Image Comics."

Grummett added: "Section Zero has excited me since day one. It's exciting to see it return home to Image Comics, where it all began. Hang on to something! It's going to be a wild ride!"
