Set sail for some mutant adventure with Marvel’s trailer for “Marauders” #1

Real talk here: of all the Dawn of X titles that were announced a few months back, Marauders was pretty far down on my list. It has a great creative team, sure, and an interesting mix of characters, but I still wasn’t sure what to make of it, or how it would fit in with Hickman’s overall story.

Then I read the first issue, which opens with this:

And I am in love.

It’s Kitty (Kate, sorry) Pryde leading a band of mutant pirates.

Which is amazing, absolutely, and would get me to read this book on it’s own. There are some really intriguing ideas at play, like Kitty not being able to use the Krakoan portals for an unknown reason, and the idea of “mutant liberators of the high seas” is beyond rad.

You should read it, is what I’m saying. If you still need convincing, check out the trailer and details below.

THE X-MEN SAIL FOR DAWN IN THE MARAUDERS #1 TRAILER!

New York, NY— October 23, 2019 — There are black sails on the horizon –but there’s no need to fear! Spinning out of Jonathan Hickman’s House of X and Powers of X, Captain Kate Pryde and her association of seafaring mutants are setting sail into uncharted waters! So prepare yourself for a swashbuckling adventure with this launch trailer featuring Editor in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, and writer Gerry Duggan!

The Children of the Atom find themselves in roles they’d never dreamed of filling – pirates! Funded by Emma Frost and the Hellfire Trading Company, Pryde and her crew takes to the seas to deliver Krakoa’s miraculous medicines to all corners of the world. But that’s not all – on the team’s voyages home, their more covert mission is to funnel mutant refugees back to their new island homeland.

“Marauders is probably the most important book of the Dawn of X books as far as furthering the world of the X-Men and the status quo of the X-Men,” says White.

I think we’re gonna thrill, I think we’re gonna make you laugh, and I hope we’re gonna break some hearts,” teases Duggan.
