Lion Forge and Oni Press announce that writer Katie O'Neill will stop at Comic-Con on her upcoming book tour

There are so many great things about Comic-Con, and conventions in general. The different panels and showcases are almost worth it alone, the sea of passionate cosplayers make fandom itself infectious, and even just wandering the show floor for hours looking for hidden gems and favorite booths is tons of fun.

But let’s not forget that conventions are also an opportunity to meet some of your favorite comics creators. Oni Press and Lion Forge have announced that Katie O’Neill-- Eisner-nominated creator of The Tea Dragon Society-- will be making her very first appearance ever at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. She’ll be signing at the Oni booth throughout the weekend, with the convention serving as a stop on her promotional book tour in support of The Tea Dragon Festival, a follow-up of The Tea Dragon Society.

Visionary Creator to Appear at Multiple Comic Shops and Bookstores Down the West Coast Ahead of First-Ever Appearance Comic-Con International

PORTLAND, OR—Just ahead of the release of an all-new companion story to the two-time Eisner Award-winning graphic novel The Tea Dragon Society, acclaimed graphic novelist Katie O'Neill ventures down the west coast for five signings in conjunction with her first-ever appearance at Comic-Con International!

Katie O’Neill says “Living so far away in New Zealand, I am really thankful for the chance to come to the States and connect with so many wonderful readers- it's a joy to meet both children and adults who have enjoyed my work! I'm so looking forward to all of the west coast signing events, and I hope everyone will feel welcome to come along and say hello. It's also such an honor to be a guest at SDCC this year- my first time experiencing a comic convention on this scale! I'm very excited, and grateful for the opportunity.”

Katie is nominated again in this year’s Eisner Awards for her most recent work, Aquicorn Cove, a heartfelt story about learning to be a guardian to yourself and those you love. Her upcoming work, The Tea Dragon Festival, delivers another charming, gentle fantasy story about finding your purpose, and the community that helps you along the way. This highly anticipated follow up to the acclaimed 2017 graphic novel will be released in September.

About the Author:

Katie O'Neill is an Eisner and Harvey Award-winning illustrator and graphic novelist from New Zealand. She is the author of Princess Princess Ever After, Aquicorn Cove, The Tea Dragon Society, and The Tea Dragon Festival, all from Oni Press. She mostly makes gentle fantasy stories for younger readers, and is very interested in tea, creatures, things that grow, and the magic of everyday life.
