Get a first look at "Angel" #5 from BOOM! Studios
Buffy and Angel’s journey toward the Hellmouth is kicking into gear, with BOOM! Studios’ pair of popular series ramping up the tension before all… well, you-know-what breaks loose.
While Buffy and the Scooby gang had a bit of a lighter build-up (at least based on their preview), Angel is neck-deep in drama: he’s being forced to team up with a vampire hunter, which puts a harsh in his buzz because Angel is, you know, a vampire, and the press release hints (threatens?) that not everyone around Angel will make it out alive.
The issue drops later this month, so in the meantime, check out the details and the preview below.
Angel’s Journey to HELLMOUTH Begins in ANGEL #5
Discover the Shocking Prelude to the Buffy and Angel Event HELLMOUTH in September 2019
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 30, 2019) – BOOM! Studios, in partnership with 20th Century Fox, revealed today a first look at ANGEL #5, the official prelude to Hellmouth, the historic Buffy & Angel comic book event!
The road to Hellmouth continues in September 2019 from acclaimed writer Bryan Edward Hill (American Carnage, Fallen Angels) and artist Gleb Melnikov, as ANGEL #5 reveals that Angel now knows his true mission—to gather a team of highly specialized individuals to help him save the world when all Hell breaks loose.
Meet Charles Gunn, vampire hunter, social media celeb, and the fresh new face of LA’s supernatural crime fighting underground. But it’s not all just likes and subscribes because Gunn is on a mission to dust every vampire he can find, right up until he comes face-to-face with the vampire cursed with a soul! Will they be able to bridge their differences and partner up long enough to save the world?
“Hellmouth is here and the only one who can stop it is Angel . . . and the team he’s somehow managed to pick up along the way. But everyone who’s ever joined him in the fight against evil ends up paying a heavy cost,” said Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios. “So it all comes down to one very important question—who can Angel trust with the fate of the world?”
ANGEL #5 features a main cover by artist Dan Panosian (Slots, Batman: Arkham Knight), along with variant cover by horror illustrator Scott Buoncristiano (Harry Potter: Magical Film Projections, Dead Rabbit) and artist Troy Nixey (Trout, Neil Gaiman’s Only The End of the World Again).
Angel #5 will hit comic shops and digital retailers on September 25.
